accountability in challenging times

Accountability cannot be sidelined
HQAI supports recent calls to ensure that “The Humanitarian Imperative Comes First” – joint statement from selected humanitarian leaders, 3rd February 2025. We passionately agree that “Accountability to the people cannot be sidelined or lost in the shuffle of shifting priorities or funding uncertainties.”
We recognise that the current uncertainty related to USAID funding is engulfing many of our partners. Some may necessitate HQAI’s flexibility around decisions related to CHS verification and we are open to discuss amendments to current audit schedules within the framework of our scheme requirements or quality assurance decisions related to them.
Please do not hesitate to contact your HQAI focal point.
We stand in solidarity with those affected by the current uncertainty, above all those vulnerable people and communities in urgent need of support.
As announced at the end of last year, HQAI has reduced the cost of audits for 2025 and beyond in support of our commitment to provide professional audit services that are as accessible as possible.
Simultaneously we trust that funders and aid actors will uphold their commitments to quality and accountability and ensure that opportunities to create any efficiencies are not lost.
