Introducing the 2024 CHS Verification Framework
Introducing the 2024 CHS Verification Framework
July 2024
We are happy to announce the launch of the 2024 CHS verification framework, designed to align with the updated Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS). This framework is a significant step forward in ensuring accountability and consistency in humanitarian & development work.
What is the CHS verification framework, you ask? It serves as a comprehensive guide, outlining the expected results for meeting each requirement of each CHS commitment. It provides measurable components for each requirement, ensuring a common understanding of what needs to be verified to confirm adherence to the standard. This framework is a crucial tool for all types of CHS verification processes.
So, who is this framework for? It is designed for organisations involved in CHS verification and individuals, both internal and external to organisations, who are involved in conducting CHS verification. This means it covers a wide range of users, all with the common goal of upholding the Core Humanitarian Standard.
The framework is unique because it was created through a collaborative process by a team with extensive knowledge and experience in revising the CHS and verification options. HQAI was involved in this process. Input from a diverse advisory group, including 11 CHS Alliance member organisations, was used to shape and improve the framework to make sure it can be applied to different types of organisations, such as national, international, and global networks.
To ensure that the framework truly meets the needs of humanitarian and development sectors, verification experts participated in workshops to discuss its clarity, practicality, and consistency. The revised version was approved by the CHS Alliance Board in June 2024, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of CHS verification.
The CHS verification framework is part of a comprehensive set of tools developed to assist organisations and individuals involved in the CHS verification process. Its aim is to provide consistency in measuring and verifying how the Core Humanitarian Standard is applied.
We are excited about the potential of this framework to enhance accountability and transparency in humanitarian work.
