Nigel Timmins

Nigel Timmins has been involved in international humanitarian assistance since 1996, holding various positions such as Water and Sanitation Engineer with Action Against Hunger and Humanitarian Director for Oxfam International. Since 2022, he has worked as a consultant and has co-authored several papers on humanitarian sector performance with Humanitarian Outcomes. Nigel has also conducted research on innovation for Elrha. He co-authored the Core Humanitarian Standard with Pierre Hauselmann and was a focal point for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the 2011 version of SPHERE.

With previous governance experience, Nigel was a founder and Trustee of the Start Network and the Global Network for Disaster Reduction. He also chaired the CaLP Network for 5 years and was a member of the IASC Emergency Directors Group for 3 years. Nigel has been passionate about accountability since first learning about the Humanitarian Ombudsman Project in 1999. In 2003, he represented Tearfund at the inaugural meeting of HAP-I, and in 2018, he led Oxfam to undergo an HQAI audit. As a member of the Steering Committee for Humanitarian Response, he was a driving force behind the Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.

I have been a Board Director since June 2024 and a member of the GA since December 2023.
